"Physical Database Design: the database professional's guide to exploiting indexes, views, storage, and more"
Given the depth of information, the book is easy to read, and a wealth of information. It provides step by step calculations of relational products from the perspective of the data server engine, breaking down all of the physical considerations. It is filled with discussions of some very technical topics in clear language and examples.
Highly recommended reading, and even more so since Sam Lightstone is a colleague at IBM.
